On a rainy night in Anaheim, across the street from the Honda Center (where the Anaheim Ducks were playing - and beating - the Philadelphia Flyers), the city's new passenger train station is nearing completion on December 3rd, 2014. Named the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), the station's December 13th grand opening is less than two weeks away. The ARTIC project is a partnership between the City of Anaheim and the Orange County Transportation Authority that will serve as an intermodal hub for several transit modes such as Amtrak, Metrolink, local and international bus, shuttles, bikes/pedestrians, Anaheim Rapid Connection, High-Speed Rail, and the proposed California-Nevada Maglev. The station will be 67,000 square feet in size, and is located between Angel Stadium and the Honda Center, the homes of Anaheim’s two sports franchises (MLB’s Angels and NHL’s Ducks). Trains are accessed via the elevated walkway at the far end of the building. To see earlier photos of ARTIC under construction, click HERE
and HERE. Service to this station is supposed to begin on December 6th, one week before the Grand Opening.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
