Sometimes, the best catches are the ones that come unexpectedly. NIRC #3, an SW1200 that was built in 1954 as the Milwaukee Road 2048, leads three cars over the 1919-built St. Charles Airline lift bridge and the Chicago River in the Chinatown neighborhood. One of the three cars is the Chicago & North Western private club car #553, which was repainted into its original paint scheme in 2017. The cars are bound for the 47th Street "Rocket House" shops to undergo what I assume is scheduled maintenance. The Chicago River was set to turn green today (March 14th), but the city canceled the annual Saint Patrick's Day parade and the dyeing of the river due to the COVID-19 virus.
