BNSF’s Chicago Sub is very busy during the afternoon rush hour, as Metra train 1270 rolls into the Harlem Avenue Station at sunset. METX cab-coach 8448 is leading this train as it makes its way against traffic, heading back to downtown Chicago from Aurora. At this time of day, most of the trains are heading west to Aurora, but a few head eastward, too. METX F40PHM-2 192 is shoving this six-car train. (Berwyn, Illinois – November 12, 2015)
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
Chicago's huge commuter rail system incorporates routes previously operated by Chicago & Northwestern, Milwaukee Road, Burlington, Illinois Centrak, Rock Island, Gulf Mobile & Ohio and Wabash (N&W).
