Tucked away deep in a Mid America Locomotive & Car Repair facility is Valiant Management and Holdings LLC CF7 2584. As with all CF7s, this engine was built by EMD as a Santa Fe F-Unit, in this case ATSF F7A 277C (built in 12/53). This engine was rebuilt in the Santa Fe’s Cleburne (TX) shops, rolling out as ATSF 2584 in January 1973. Years later, the Santa Fe sold it to Amtrak, where it became AMTK 594. In 1995, Amtrak sold it to Nevada Industrial Switching, which numbered it back to its ATSF number, becoming NISX 2584. In December 2016 this engine was acquired by Valiant Management and Holdings, becoming VMHX 2584. (Evansville, Indiana – September 28, 2017). Photographed on private property with permission and full PPE.Click HERE to see this engine in Amtrak service.
