About 59 minutes after bringing Metro-North train 846 from Poughkeepsie NY to New York City's Grand Central Terminal, CNDX P32AC-DM 230, which like all four of the Connecticut Department of Transportation P32AC-DMs is painted in the colors and markings of the New Haven, hauls the empty cars through the Harlem-125th Street station back to the yard for servicing before another trip later in the day. CNDX 230, however, is the only one of the four that has an old Penn Central logo on its cab, so I was happy to get two opportunities to photograph it this mid-day. (I'd also caught it in November 2023, but my shots were better on this wintery day.) Sadly, I never caught any of the three (as of this date) of Metro-North’s dual mode diesels (these General Electric P32AC-DMs operate off third rail electric power or, once at the end of that power source, diesel power) painted for MNCW's 40th anniversary, or to honor New York Central or Conrail. Hopefully on my next trip to the Big Apple! (New York, New York – January 23, 2024)
