The brakeman sprints ahead to line switches to get his coal train out of the yard and on the way to Georgia. Power on this day was pretty typical, a trio of U30Cs and a single SD40.

It's all-L&N at the tail end of this northbound freight, with a scale test car and home-road boxcar tucked just ahead of the bright red cab.

Back in the days when big GE six-axle power was a bit less common than the present, L&N 1575 leads empties back toward the mines.

Family Lines is becoming an operational reality as L&N C30-7 7008 - in Family Lines paint - heads north toward Birmingham on the SCL/ACL/AB&C/AB&A... future CSX.
